What was once termed Mother’s Ruin is now the spirit of choice for a new generation of hipsters.
The history of gin is a fascinating one indeed. It is reported that gin started out in the 1600s as a medicine - a cure for gout and indigestion; it sparked riots in the 1700s and fuelled underground distilleries in the 1920s.
Over recent years, Britain has seen a proliferation of gin bars, gin clubs and now there is even a hotel dedicated to all things ‘gin’. According to the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, last year, a total of 47m bottles of gin were sold with sales topping £1bn for the first time. In fact, experts predict further growth in the number of UK distilleries this year after the duty on spirits was frozen in the November budget, so, there is no sign of sales slowing down.
Here at The Original Metal Sign Co. we have also witnessed a surge in popularity for our collection of gin-themed metal signs and magnets https://originalmetalsigns.co.uk/search?q=gin&type=product. With 14 unique designs to choose from, why not join the gin revival?
